Thank you for this blog. As a school pohycslogist, I thoroughly enjoy this site and find it very useful and informative. Question: this year I will be working with Preschool population, which I've never done before. I really like the DAS-II and am wondering if this is a good instrument for this age group- and especially for children with Autism? I read somewhere that the DAS is better for higher functioning ASD, but I believe that was for the original DAS. Is this also true for the DAS-II? What cognitive measure is common for this age group and for the ASD group? Thanks in advance!

My broadband has been sfenurifg just lately, getting slower and slower as the months go by. I had an engineer visit because they diagnosed a REIN (interference) issue which is being caused basically by too many people connected down one pipe on Middlemore. So although there is nothing that can be done I was informed by the Openreach engineer that Middlemore is due to have FTTC (Infinity) in 8 months time, hopefully bringing an end to our terrible broadband. He also fitted an FTTC (Infinity) ready faceplate on my master phone socket.

The GP 500 captures close cnntioaipg from a tv signal, something I did not know when I first responded to this question so, I suggested Dragon naturally speaking' Because it will process dictated notes, and Dragon is miles better than it used to be.However to get the Closed Captioning that accompanies a program into a text file from a tivo recording, first we have to be sure Tivo recordings support the extra channels that carry the closed capture text. If they do look into programs that edit video, like Final cut for mac, or Avermedia's ezcapture, which is probably a whole lot less expensive (but probably not as much fun).
