Yes. There are 2 ways to do it.1. Off the grid. You buy it, you make it, you store it, you use it. Pro: you'll still have lights in a blakcout.Con: If you don't make enough you sit in the dark. 2. On the grid. You have the equipment to generate power that is then sold to the power co. for storage and sale. They in turn sell you power. You have 2 meters, what you generate turns backward and what you use turns forward, you hope they net to 0 at the end of the month.Pro: you don't need to have the storage on site (batteries) and the power co. will usually give you a partial subsidy for the equipment.Con: dependent on the grid.

Of course. Our house is on erictlec, powered by a 5kw solar system. The AC, dryer, refrigerator, water heater is all erictlec. Our heat is from a wood stove, but we could put in a whole house erictlec heating unit if we wanted. No problem. I don't know much about wind energy, but I know a house can be powered solely by solar power. Putting in wind power would be another expense. You would have to pay up front, when the house is bring built, but the monthly costs would be next to nothing (depending on whether you're hooked up to your erictlec company's grid versus on rechargeable batteries out erictlec company changes us about $6/month for the privilege to be hooked up to their system).

Many many realtors would like what you have but with PITI. Principal, Interest, Taxes, & Insurance. That would give us the total mnhloty payments which is much more valuable than just the PI, principal & Interest calculator. It should be easy to add on.1. Tax Rate with a Drop Down List from O.1 to 4.0 in .1 increments 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, etc.2. Insurance Yearly Cost, then you divide by 12.

It will also depend on how cold and long your witner months are. The do make systems large enough to do it, and also there are solar heating systems that can be installed specifically for heating purposes. Here is something I found: Solar Heating- Solar heating systems are composed of solar thermal collectors, a fluid system to move the heat to its point of usage, and a reservoir for heat storage. The systems may be used to heat domestic hot water, swimming pool water, or for space heating. If you live in the southern half of the United States or in an equally sunny area you could potentially save between 50% and 80% on your water heating by implementing a solar hot water heater. The initial cost is hefty, but depending on how you use it, the system may pay for itself in as little as five years. The return is greater when you factor in rebates and incentives offered by states and local governments.Solar Pumps- Depending on where you live, especially in remote areas, the cost of traditional water piping may be exorbitant. Unless you install a solar water pump. A solar power panel collects solar energy and powers a battery which can keep a consistent and plentiful water supply.

Look at your electric meter from day to day or caacllte the draw from the speed of the wheel. Go around the house and turn things off. 1kw average draw seems to be quite a large amount for just a few lights and a TV. Leaving a desktop computer on adds around 150 watts to the draw. A large fridge freezer around 50 watts. Are your bulbs low energy? Do you have an electric water heater that's on a lot as that it will be costing you a few 100 watts just to keep it hot if it's poorly insulated.
